You might be surprised by the question, because the temple I'm going to take you to visit today is filled with lots of stupas. Here, most of the stupas containing people's ashes are scattered around buildings.

I remember the first time I went there. I was a bit shocked by many stupas, and had to be very careful while taking photos. As I mentined above, It isn't that bad. However, I still recommend this temple to you.

Major attractions

1.Look at the photo above, you will see the Buddha's feet sticking out of his coffin. It relates to an important incident, that took place just before the Buddha's cremation.

It was said that the Buddha wanted to wait for Phra Maha Kassapa, who was one of the Buddha's top disciples to pay his last respects to him. Therefore, the Buddha performed miracle.

It's another version of the Buddha, that we call "The Buddha in the attitude of leaving for nirvana" - only his feet are visible.

2.Many thousands of flying foxes are looking forward to seeing you. Don't forget to say "Hi" when you meet them.

3.There are unusual stupas!. The one that looks very strange is the stupa with a concrete boat.

วัดเก้าชั่ง

วัดเก้าชั่ง สร้างในสมัยอุยธยาตอนปลาย อยู่ที่ อ.พรหมบุรี ห่างจาก ศาลหลักเมือง 19 กม. ด้านหน้าทางเข้าวัดจะเห็นรูปหล่อสมเด็จโต สีทอง องค์ใหญ่

วัดนี้ ไม่เหมาะกับคนกลัวผี บอกเลยว่ามีเจดีย์ใส่อัฐิคนตายเยอะมาก โดยเจดีย์นี้อยู่กระจายรอบวิหารและอุโบสถ วันที่เราเข้าไปถ่ายรูป เรานี่งง+มึนมาก จะถ่ายรูปแต่ละทีเราต้องบอกลุงป้าน้าอาที่อยู่ในเจดีย์ เพราะกลัวว่าเท้าจะไปโดน ปกติวัดอื่นเขาจะวางเจดีย์เป็นกลุ่มเป็นก้อน เป็นมุมๆ ไป แต่นี่เหมือนดาวกระจายอ่ะ

สิ่งที่น่าสนใจของวัดนี้ ได้แก่

1.ค้างคาวแม่ไก่ มีชื่อสุดเท่ห์เป็นภาษาอังกฤษว่า The flying fox แปลว่า ค้างคาวหมาจิ้งจอก! ล้อเล่นนะ มันแค่มีหน้าตาเหมือนหมาจิ้งจอกเท่านั้น มีจำนวนเป็นหมื่นๆ ตัว

2.พระปางพระพุทธเจ้าเข้านิพพาน (เท้าโผล่จากโลงศพ)

3.เจดีย์หน้าตาแปลกๆ เช่น เจดีย์ทรงเรือโบราณ (ดูรูปด้านบน)

พระปางนี้สร้างตามคติทางพุทธศาสนาเถรวาทแบบมอญ เป็นเหตุการณ์ที่ พระพุทธเจ้าทรงรอพระมหากัสสปะ (พระอัครสาวกคนสำคัญ) ที่มาไม่ทันเข้าเฝ้า ขณะที่พระพุทธเจ้าดับขันธปรินิพพาน พระพุทธเจ้าจึงได้แสดงปาฏิหาริย์ โดยยื่นเท้าออกมานอกโลงศพ เพื่อรอให้พระมหากัสสปะกลับมาถวายพระเพลิงพระบรมศพได้ทัน

เมื่อขับรถผ่านประตูวัดเข้ามา ด้านซ้ายมือจะมีศาลาที่มีรูปปั้นพญานาคและบ่อน้ำ ตรงไปอีกนิดคือวิหารและอุโบสถ ซึ่งล้อมรอบด้วยเจดีย์หน้าตาแปลกๆ และขับต่อไปจนถึงกำแพงวัด จะพบศาลาที่มีรูปหล่อของท่านเจ้าอาวาสวัดรูปก่อน ส่วนด้านซ้ายมือ เราจะเห็นต้นยางสูงท่วมหัว นั่นคือที่อยู่ของค้างคาวแม่ไก่
