It's one of the most famous temples with a long history. Also, it used to be a camp of Bang Rachan villagers during the Ayutthaya period.

Within the temple compound, there is a big cement pond near the main entrance. Local people believe that water in the pond is holy. You may be surprised, when you see someone carring buckets of water from a small pool and pouring it into the pond. If you want to know why they did like that, please follow me.

Dating back to the Ayutthaya period (1765 - 1767) Phra Achan Thammachot who was a famous monk with magical powers, was invited from Wat Khao Nangbuat to Wat Pho Kao Ton by Bang Rachan villagers.

Phra Achan Thammachot made the water in the pond holy, by performing a special ritual. He then blessed Bang Rachan villagers with the holy water to boost their fighting spirit, before they went into the battle. Since that time, it has become the holy water in the eyes of the villagers.

Most travellers come here just to make merit or take a photo, while some travellers come to make wishes and redeem their vows. And you know, they believe their wishes will come true when they pour water into the pond.

The main purpose of pouring water into the pond is to help fish when the water goes down" in hot season.

Other interesting things

1.the large spirit house in traditional Thai style is a house for ancestors who sacrificed themselves to protect our country, since Thailand was still a country called Siam.

2.the statue of Phra Achan Thammachot is enshrined in a small pavilion, near the spirit house.

3.the ruined building is called Viharn of Phra Achan Thammachot - only the walls that made of bricks had been left. There are some Buddha statues inside.

4.the extra large statue of Phra Achan Thammachot, one of the most famous Buddhist monks in Thai history, passed away in 1872. The statue was once painted black, but now it's golden.

วัดโพธิ์เก้าต้น

สมัยก่อนชาวบ้านเรียกวัดนี้ว่า วัดไม้แดง (เพราะมีต้นไม้แดงเป็นจำนวนมาก) วัดนี้อยู่ติดกับ ตลาดบ้านระจัน เป็นวัดที่มีชื่อเสียงมากในประวัติศาสตร์ไทย และมีการนำเรื่องราวที่เกิดขึ้นในอดีตมาสร้างเป็นภาพยนต์

ในอดีตวัดนี้เคยเป็นสถานที่ๆ ชาวบ้านตั้งค่ายในการสู้รบ เพื่อต่อสู้กับกองทัพพม่า ขณะนั้นชาวบ้านได้นิมนต์ “พระอาจารย์ธรรมโชติ” ผู้เรืองวิทยาคมมาเป็นขวัญกำลังใจให้กับชาวบ้าน

ชาวบ้านบางระจันสามารถ ต้านทานทัพพม่าได้ถึง 7 ครั้ง ทั้งๆ ที่มีกำลังคนและอาวุธน้อยกว่า ค่ายบางระจันแตก เมื่อวันแรม 2 ค่ำ เดือน 8 ปี 2309

บ่อน้ำศักดิ์สิทธิ์

เล่ากันว่าในอดีตพระอาจารย์ธรรมโชติ ได้ทำการปลุกเสกน้ำในบ่อนี้ให้เป็นน้ำมนต์ เพื่อใช้รักษาโรคภัยไข้เจ็บให้กับชาวบ้าน อีกทั้งยังใช้น้ำในบ่อนี้พรมให้กับนักรบก่อนออกรบ ชาวบ้านจึงถือว่าบ่อน้ำนี้เป็นบ่อน้ำศักดิ์สิทธิ์

คนที่เดินทางมาขอพร และมาแก้บนกับพระอาจารย์ธรรมโชติ จะแก้บนด้วยการหาบน้ำมาใส่บ่อ ถ้าหาบไม่ไหว ก็มีคนรับจ้างหาบน้ำอยู่บริเวณใกล้ๆ ค่ะ ค่าจ้างครั้งละ 3 บาท เท่านั้น ส่วนวัตถุประสงค์ของการหาบน้ำมาใส่บ่อ ก็เพื่อช่วยไม่ให้ปลาตาย เพราะในช่วงหน้าร้อน ระดับน้ำจะลดลงมาก เล่ากันว่าในอดีตน้ำในบ่อแห้งมาก จนปลาและสัตว์ในบ่อหลายตัวเกือบตาย ด้วยเหตุนี้จึงกลายเป็นที่มาของประเพณีการหาบน้ำมาเติมในบ่อ

สิ่งที่น่าสนใจอื่นๆ

1.ศาลวีรชน อยู่ใกล้กับประตูวัดและบ่อน้ำศักดิ์สิทธิ์ เป็นที่เก็บรวบรวมอัฐิของเหล่าบรรพชนที่เสียสละชีวิตเพื่อปกป้องประเทศชาติ

2.รูปปั้นจำลองของพระอาจารย์ธรรมโชติ ในวิหารหลังเล็กข้างศาลวีรชน

3.วิหารเก่าของพระอาจารย์ธรรมโชติ ซึ่งมีร่องรอยกำแพงอิฐแดง

4.รูปปั้นพระอาจารย์ธรรมโชติขนาดใหญ่ที่เป็นสีดำ แต่ภายหลังได้มีการทาสีทับเป็นสีทอง

กูจะสู้แม้รู้ว่าพวกกูน้อย สู้ไม่ถอยแม้รู้ว่าจะดับสลาย แผ่นดินนี้พ่อกูอยู่ปู่กูตาย กูสุดอายหากเสียทีไพรีครอง

ใครบ้างเหวยจะร่วมสู้กับกูบ้าง ใครบ้างเหวยจะอยู่ข้างไทยใจหาญ ใครบ้างเหวยจะละสุขสนุกสำราญ ใครบ้างเหวยยอมวายปราณเพื่อไทยคง
