Sing Buri is a small province with such a long history absolutely known widely by most of Thai people as a group of villagers fought bravely against the Burmese invaders, so their legendary heroism was recorded as a compulsory lesson for new generations in Thai history books.

Bang Rachan was a small village, north-west of Ayutthaya. It’s located in Khai Bang Rachan district of Singburi province, opposite to Bang Rachan Retro Market.

The story of Bang Rachan village took place in 1765, during the reign of King Ekkathat of Ayutthaya. In that period of time, Burmese troops invaded Ayutthaya and surrounding areas. They killed a lot of Thai people cruelly.

Consequently, Bangrachan villagers gathered themselves to protect the village and fought against the Burmese invaders. When Thai people in surrounding areas heard about this news. They came to join in the troops and later established a fort at Wat Pho Kao Ton.

The fort is situated next to Bangrachan Retro Market at present days, where one of the most famous monks, Pra Arjarn Thammachote, whom thai people believed in his sacred magical power from a temple in Suphanburi, was invited to stay there as the center of hearts to encourage all warriors.

Bang Rachan Villagers could endure Burmese’s attacks for 8 times within five months, before regrettably being defeated due to their shortage of weapons.

The monument and museum were built to honor Bang Rachan warriors. Museum displays the stories of Khai Bang Rachan, replicas of Bang Rachan warriors, ancient weapons, shadow puppets, the Maenam Noi kiln site, etc.

อนุสาวรีย์วีรชนค่ายบางระจัน และพิพิธภัณฑ์

อนุสาวรีย์วีรชนค่ายบางระจันและพิพิธภัณฑ์ ตั้งอยู่ตรงข้ามกับ ตลาดย้อนยุคบ้านระจัน (ซึ่งตลาดตั้งอยู่ในพื้นที่ของ วัดโพธิ์เก้าต้น) หลังจากไปเยี่ยมชมตลาดแล้ว เราแนะนำให้ขับรถมาจอดที่นี่เลยค่ะ

ขับรถจากตัวเมืองมา 15 กม. ก็จะถึงอนุสาวรีย์ ถ้าเพื่อนๆ มาเที่ยวตลาดบ้านระจัน ก็ควรแวะมากราบสักการะท่านสักหน่อยนะคะ แผ่นดินที่เรายืนอยู่ทุกวันนี้ บรรพบุรุษของเราเสียสละเลือดเนื้อเพื่อปกป้องไว้ให้คนรุ่นหลังอย่างพวกเราได้มีแผ่นดินอยู่ ดังนั้นไม่ว่าคุณจะอยู่ที่ไหนในประเทศไทย คุณก็คือคนไทย

อนุเสาวรีย์จะตั้งอยู่กลางสนามหญ้า บริเวณรอบๆ อนุเสาวรีย์ จะถูกล้อมรอบด้วยค่ายจำลองแบบโบราณ บรรยากาศร่มรื่นด้วยต้นไม้ แต่ถ้ามาเที่ยวตอนบ่ายก็ร้อนพอควร
