It's located by the Chao Phraya River, and close to a famous temple named Wat Sai. Temple was named after a climbing plant (Ranam).

Most of the devotees often visit the temple, because they have faith in the former abbots. But before I share stories of legendary monks with you, let me take you on a tour of the temple first.

What you will see as you enter the temple - the ordination hall with the principal Buddha statue, a former Buddhist school, an old tripitaka hall, a yellow building with all of the statues of the former abbots shortly called "Viharn Baramee" and a small garden with topiary trees and plants.

Biographies of monks

Let me start from the begining, when the temple under the leadership of the 2nd abbot - Luang Pu Kate.

When Luang Pu Kate was 72 years old, he walked to Wat Ranam and intended to stay there for a few days. But he became so ill that he couldn't walk, while he was leaving.

That night, he had a dream - an old monk, who governed this temple before, caught his feet. Therefore, he prayed that he would live here one more year, if he recovered from his illness. And then his illness disappeared.

After a year passed (near the end of Buddhist Lent), he prepared to leave the temple. And again, he suddenly became ill, so he prayed that if he recovered from his illness, he would live here forever. Later, he became abbot.

During his time as the abbot, LP Kate had a young disciple named Yai. Yai had learnt Thai and the art of white magic from LP Kate, before he was appointed as the 3rd abbot. Later in 1915, Luang Pu Yai created the first talisman (white cloth) to make the wind change direction. His devotees experienced miracles and, as a result, everyone flocked to the temple to buy his tlismans.

LP Yai passed away on December 21, 1937. There were many thousands of people attending his funeral, even one of the most famous monk in Nakorn Sawan Province, Luang Pho Derm.

After LP Yai's death, Luang Pu Rung became the 4th abbot. During his stay in the temple, he sometimes wanted to leave the monkhood. But he changed his mind and made a pilgrimage as his preceptor's advice.

However, after he returned to the temple, the same thought went round and round in his head, until his preceptor took him to see topiary trees and also told him how to shape them. And after that he focused on those topiary trees until he forgot to leave the monkhood.

As for his amulet, the first edition is an oval shaped coin with the image of Luang Pu Rung, made for celebration of his 72nd anniversary. It's said that all of the amulets show miracles to the wearers.

Mr.Charoem Sinma is the only one, who miraculously escaped death after a military plane crash. Another one is Pol.Lt.Gen.Damri Prasartkaew, miraculously survived a helicopter crash.

And another monk who always becomes legend is Luang Pu Jex, the 7the abbot. He studied the art of magic from many masters - LP Ban Wat Khao Yai, LP Chim Wat Tha Krisana, LP To Wat Mahathat, LP Suk Wat Pak Khlong Makham Tao and LP Si Wat Phra Prang.

When it comes to amulets, his amulets were very popular among Thai people at that time, especially the first edition coin. Even today, that coin is regarded as the most powerful protection amulet, that all of the wearers miraculously survived.

วัดระนาม

วัดระนาม ตั้งอยู่ ต.ชีน้ำร้าย อ.อินทร์บุรี ใกล้กับวัดที่มีชื่อเสียงวัดนึง คือ วัดไทร, อีกวัดที่ไม่ไกลกัน คือ วัดบางโฉมศรี (วัดที่ช่วยเหลือเด็กด้อยโอกาส)

วันนี้เราจะพามาตามรอยพระเกจิดังแห่งสิงห์บุรีกัน วัดนี้ไม่ค่อยมีสิ่งปลูกสร้างอะไรเด่นมากนัก ส่วนใหญ่มีแต่ศาลาที่ประดิษฐานพระพุทธรูป-รูปหล่อเจ้าอาวาสวัด หอไตรเก่า และอาคารที่เคยใช้เป็นโรงเรียนพระปริยัติ ส่วนบริเวณด้านข้างอุโบสถมีสวนธรรมะ ที่ตกแต่งด้วยต้นไม้หลากหลายชนิด

สำหรับพระเกจิดังที่ทำให้ชื่อของวัดระนามดังจนกลายเป็นตำนาน ได้แก่ หลวงปู่ใย หลวงปู่รัง และหลวงปู่เจ๊ก ท่านได้สร้างวัตถุมงคลไว้จำนวนนึง ซึ่งผู้คนที่ได้สวมใส่ต่างพบกับปาฏิหาริย์มากมาย

สมัยก่อน หลวงปู่เกษ อายุ 72ปี ท่านธุดงค์มาพักที่วัดระนาม เมื่อท่านอยู่ได้ 2-3 วัน ก็จะออกเดินทางต่อ แต่เกิดอาพาธจนถึงขั้นเดินไม่ได้ ขณะนั้นท่านได้ฝันว่ามีพระผู้เฒ่าที่เคยปกครองวัดนี้มาจับเท้าท่านไว้ ท่านจึงได้อธิษฐานว่า ถ้าเท้าหายดีจะอยู่ที่วัดนี้ต่ออีกหนึ่งพรรษา จากนั้นอาการอาพาธก็หายไป

ในช่วงใกล้ออกพรรษา ท่านก็เตรียมจะลาจากวัดนี้ แต่ก็เกิดอาพาธขึ้นอีก ท่านจึงได้อธิษฐานอีกครั้งว่า ถ้าหายจากอาการอาพาธ จะอยู่วัดนี้ตลอดไป ท่านจึงได้มาปกครองวัดต่อจากหลวงปู่สุข

ผ่านมาจนถึงสมัยของ หลวงปู่ใย ท่านได้เรียนวิชาภาษาไทยและวิทยาคมจากหลวงปู่เกษ และยังเป็นศิษย์ก้นกุฏิหลวงพ่อโฉม วัดตาคลีใหญ่ เล่ากันว่าหลวงปู่ใยสามารถทำให้เรือที่กำลังวิ่งอยู่หยุดได้ทันที และยังมีวาจาสิทธิ์ ในอดีตหลานของหลวงปู่ใย นำตะกรุดมาให้ปลุกเสกที่วัด แต่อยู่ๆ มันก็หายไป ท่านจึงเรียกลูกศิษย์คนนึงมาถามว่า เห็นตะกรุดไหม ลูกศิษย์คนนั้นไม่ยอมรับ ท่านเลยพูดว่า "ถ้าเห็นแล้วบอกว่าไม่เห็นขอให้ตาบอด" สุดท้ายลูกศิษย์คนนั้นก็ตาบอดจริงๆ

ส่วนวัตถุมงคลที่ท่านสร้างมีน้อยมาก ชิ้นแรกคือ ผ้าขาวตราโบสถ์ พ.ศ.2458 เด่นในด้านป้องกันลม เมื่ออาราธนาแล้วโบกผ้าไปทางเดียว ลมจะเปลี่ยนทิศในเวลาอันรวดเร็ว ต่อมาได้สร้างเหรียญและพระปิดตา

ท่านมรณภาพ 21 ธ.ค. 2480 มีคนมาร่วมงานประชุมเพลิงมากเป็นประวัติการณ์ในสมัยนั้น รวมถึง หลวงพ่อเดิม วัดหนองโพ จ.นครสวรรค์ (อาจารย์หลวงพ่อจรัญ วัดอัมพวัน) ก็นั่งประทุนหลังช้าง (กูป) มาร่วมงานด้วย

ต่อมา หลวงปู่รัง ได้มาอุปสมบทอยู่ที่วัดนี้ แต่ไม่นานนักท่านคิดจะลาสึก หลวงพ่อใยซึ่งเป็นพระอุปัชฌาย์จึงแนะให้ท่านออกธุดงค์ แต่เมื่อกลับจากธุดงค์แล้วท่านก็ยังมีความคิดที่จะลาสึกอีก หลวงพ่อใย จึงพาเดิมชมต้นตะโก และแนะนำวิธีการดัด ตั้งแต่นั้นมาท่านจึงสนใจเรื่องการตกแต่งต้นตะโก จนลืมเรื่องการลาสึกเสียสิ้น

วัตถุมงคลที่ท่านสร้าง บอกเลยว่าสุดยอดมาก รุ่นแรกเป็นเหรียญรูปไข่เป็นรูปหลวงปู่รัง สร้างครบอายุ 72 ปี มีพุทธคุณด้านเมตตา คงกระพันธุ์ชาตรี ปลอดภัย คนที่พบปาฏิหาริย์ คือ นายเฉลิม สินมา เขาเป็นเพียงคนเดียวที่รอดตายจากอุบัติเครื่องบินทหารตก ที่เหลือตายหมด ส่วนอีกคน คือ พันตำรวจโทดำหริ ประสาทแก้ว เฮลิคอปเตอร์ตก ก็ปลอดภัย

เข้ามาสู่ยุครุ่งเรืองของวัดอีกครั้ง ในยุคของ หลวงปู่เจ็ก (พระอริยสงฆ์ 5 แผ่นดิน) มีพระอุปัชฌาย์คือหลวงพ่อใย ท่านได้เรียนวิทยาคมกับ หลวงพ่อแบน วัดเขาใหญ่ เดิมบางนางบวช จ.สุพรรณบุรี, หลวงพ่อฉิม วัดท่ากฤษณา จ.สุพรรณบุรี หลวงพ่อโต วัดมหาธาตุ จ.ชัยนาท, หลวงปู่ศรี วัดพระปรางค์ (ชัณสูตร) และหลวงปู่ศุข วัดปากคลองมะขามเฒ่า ฯลฯ

ส่วนวัตถุมงคล ของหลวงปู่เจ็ก โด่งดังมากและเป็นที่ต้องการมากในวงการพระเครื่อง นั่นคือเหรียญรุ่นแรก (รุ่นฉลองพัดยศ 2513) ในเหรียญพิมพ์คำว่า "เง็ก" มีพุทธคุณด้านเมตตา แคล้วคลาด เล่ากันว่าคนที่ประสบอุบัติเหตุ รอดตายทุกราย มีคนเคยนำเหรียญของท่านใส่ในหมวกกันน๊อกแล้วโยนขึ้นฟ้า จากนั้นเอาปืนยิง ปรากฏว่ายิงไม่ถูกสักนัด นอกจากนี้มีช่างภาพมาถ่ายรูปท่านเพื่อจะนำไปสร้างแบบรูปหล่อของท่าน แต่ว่าถ่ายรูปไม่ติดเลย
