Temple's located in Mueang district, near Kaisorn Ratchasri Intersection and the Chao Phraya River Crossing Bridge.

Normally, most travellers from other provinces come here when temple fair is held. This year, it was held on 15-17 March, 2022. Of course, I went there but I will show you pictures of the fair later.

Within the temple, there are three white stupas standing in a line, in front of the ordination hall. The three stupas is open to the public every year. Everyone is allowed to pay homage to them and also apply gold leaf to their statues.

1.the middle stupa that keeps the sacred body of Luang Pho Poon (the abbot) is open on July 21.

2.the rest stupas keep ashes of Luang Pho Thong (LP Poon's brother) and Luang Pho Sap (the abbot). The two stupas are open on the 13rd - the 14th day of the 4th waxing moon.

Next building is the ordination hall, that is closed temporarily due to the COVID pandemic. However, you can see it from the outside. If you take a closer look at it, you will find out that "it's an imitation of Indian architecture".

Besides, you will also find its basement but it's always closed. It's also one of only two ordination halls in Thailand, that the other one is located at Wat Rachathiwat in Bangkok.

In the old days, there was a carved wood swan. It was placed between the two front doors of the ordination hall, but one day It was missing. Most of the villagers believed the swan flew away, because it was often seen to fly. Later, a standing Buddha statue is placed instead of the missing swan. This is just a story that has been told through generations.

Monk Biography

LP Poon, the former abbot, was one of the Great monks in Singburi and also Ecclesiastical Provincial Governor. It's said that LP Poon's words had power that affected or influenced on someone or something.

One day a monk saw a man catching fish in the river in front of the temple. So the monk walked quickly to tell LP Poon what had happened. LP Poon said "Let he do, he would get just enough fish to eat". And he got only one fish that day.

Another story is the accident, that happened on the Chao Phraya River Crossing Bridge near the temple. A construction worker fell from the top of a crane while he was working. At that moment, he thought that he was going to die. But suddenly, he saw an old monk carring him. Later, he found out that LP Poon was the monk who saved his life.

วัดสังฆราชาวาส

วัดนี้ตั้งอยู่ อ.เมือง ใกล้กับสี่แยกไกสรราชสีห์ และติดกับสะพานข้ามแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยา ในอดีตถือว่าเป็นวัดที่โด่งดังมากในสิงห์บุรีเพราะมีพระเกจิดังหลายรูปเคยอยู่ที่นี่ ก่อนที่จะไปเล่าถึงประวัติของพระเกจิ มาดูสิ่งที่น่าสนใจในวัดกันก่อน

เจดีย์สีขาว 3 องค์ ตั้งเรียงกัน คือเจดีย์ของหลวงพ่อทอง หลวงพ่อพูล และหลวงพ่อทรัพย์ โดยทางวัดจะเปิดให้ประชาชนทั่วไป เข้ามากราบสักการะและปิดทองได้ทุกปี ตามวันเวลาดังนี้

1.เจดีย์ที่อยู่ตรงกลาง คือเจดีย์ของหลวงพ่อพูล (เจ้าอาวาส) ร่างของท่านอยู่ในโลงหิน แล้วครอบด้วยเจดีย์ เจดีย์จะเปิดวันที่ 21 ก.ค.

2.เจดีย์ของหลวงพ่อทอง (น้องชายหลวงพ่อพูล) และหลวงพ่อทรัพย์ (เจ้าอาวาส และท่านยังเป็นหมอยา รักษาคนด้วย) อัฐิของท่านถูกเก็บในเจดีย์ที่อยู่ด้านข้าง โดยเราสามารถปิดทองที่รูปปั้นของท่านได้ เจดีย์จะเปิดวันที่ ขึ้น 13-14 ค่ำ เดือน 4

ส่วนด้านหลังเจดีย์ คือ อุโบสถ ซึ่งมีลักษณะที่แปลกตากว่าวัดอื่น อุโบสถรูปแบบนี้สร้างเลียนแบบมาจากของ อินเดีย มีแค่ 2 แห่งในประเทศไทย อีกที่นึงอยู่ที่ วัดราชาธิวาส กรุงเทพ ใต้ฐานอุโบสถเป็นถ้ำ โดยทางลงจะอยู่ใกล้กับพระพุทธรูปปางรำพึง (ตรงประตูหน้าอุโบสถ)

ในอดีตเราจะเห็น "หงส์ที่แกะสลักจากไม้" ที่ประตูหน้าอุโบสถ แต่ชาวบ้านเล่าลือกันว่า หงส์บินได้ เคยมีคนเห็น และสันนิษฐานว่าหงส์ได้บินหนีไปเอง ต่อมาทางวัดจึงได้นำพระพุทธรูปปางรำพึงมาตั้งแทน ส่วนพระประธานในอุโบสถ คือพระที่หลวงพ่อพูลท่านปั้นขึ้นมาเอง

ประวัติหลวงพ่อพูล

หลวงพ่อพูล (พระครูเกศีวิกรม) อดีตเจ้าอาวาสวัดสังฆราชาวาส และท่านยังเป็น เจ้าคณะจังหวัด อีกด้วย ท่านเป็นพระวาจาสิทธิ์ เล่ากันว่าในอดีตมีคนแอบมาตกปลาที่หน้าวัด พระลูกวัดจึงได้มาบอกหลวงพ่อพูล หลวงพ่อพูลจึงพูดว่า "ให้เขาตกปลาไปเถอะ เขาจะได้ไปแค่พอกินเท่านั้น" วันนั้นมีปลาขึ้นที่หน้าวัดเยอะมาก แต่คนที่มาตกปลา ได้ปลาแค่ตัวเดียว

อีกเรื่องนึง สมัยก่อนชาวบ้านแถว วัดบางพาน มักจะนำข้าวเปลือกมาฝากที่วัดสังฆราชาวาสเป็นประจำเพราะน้ำท่วม แต่มีปีนึงมีชาวบ้านนำข้าวมาฝากวัด ท่านจึงได้บอกกับชาวบ้านผู้นั้นว่า "โยมไม่ต้องเอามาฝากหรอก เดี๋ยวน้ำก็ลดแล้ว" เมื่อชาวบ้านคนนั้นกลับไปถึงบ้าน น้ำก็ลดลงจริงๆ

ส่วนอีกเรื่องนึง เป็นเรื่องที่ทำให้คนแห่กันมาขอพรหลวงพ่อพูล หลังจากที่คนงานคนนึง ซึ่งทำงานอยู่บนปั่นจั่นเพื่อสร้างสะพานที่อยู่หน้าวัด เขาพลาดตกลงมาจากปั่นจั่น แต่เขารอดตายเพราะเขาบอกว่า มีพระแก่ๆ รูปนึงมารับร่างเขาไว้ ภายหลังเขาจึงทราบว่าพระรูปนั้นคือหลวงพ่อพูล

นอกจากนี้สมัยที่ท่านยังมีชีวิตอยู่ ที่วัดมีสัตว์ป่านานาชนิด เช่น นกยูง นกป่า ซึ่งท่านปล่อยอิสระ โดยไม่ได้ขังกรง และไม่มีชาวบ้านคนใดกล้าจับ แต่เมื่อท่านมรณภาพ สัตว์ต่างๆ รวมถึงหงส์แกะสลักที่เคยอยู่หน้าอุโบสถ (ที่เขาร่ำลือกันว่า บินได้) ก็หายไปจากวัด และไม่เคยมีใครพบเจออีกเลย
