It's a Maha Nikaya temple, located in In-Buri district. However, a lot of travellers confuse it with Wat Phranon Chaksri that has a big reclining Buddha statue.

The word "Phranon" means a reclining Buddha, while this temple doesn't have a reclining Buddha statue. I think what I said is confusing you. Let me tell you about the story of the temple.

This temple is believed to have been built in the late Ayutthaya period. After the temple was built, most of the villagers gathered money and valuable objects, with the intention to build a reclining Buddha statue.

But at that time, Burmese army attacked Ayutthaya kingdom, so the villagers had to hide their treasures. When the war ended, the villagers came back to find their treasures, but some treasures were gone.

Eventually, they didn't build the Buddha statue, but the name "Wat Phranon" still remains. Inside the temple compound, you will only see the Buddha statue in the ordination hall.

วัดพระนอน (อินทร์บุรี)

วัดพระนอน ตั้งอยู่ อ.อินทร์บุรี เป็นโรงเรียนพระปริยัติธรรม มหานิกาย อย่าสับสันกับ วัดพระนอนจักรสีห์ที่มีพระนอนขนาดใหญ่นะ

เล่ากันว่าวัดนี้สร้างในช่วงกรุงศรีอยุธยาตอนปลาย หลังจากสร้างวัดแล้ว ชาวบ้านได้รวบรวมเงิน และสิ่งของต่างๆ เพื่อจะสร้างพระนอน แต่ขณะนั้นพม่าได้ยกทัพมาตีกรุงศรีอยุธยาเสียก่อน ชาวบ้านจึงนำสมบัติไปซ่อนไว้ เมื่อสงครามสงบ ชาวบ้านกลับมาที่นี่ แต่สมบัติบางส่วนได้หายไปแล้ว ดังนั้นจึงไม่ได้สร้างพระนอน

วัดนี้มีแต่อุโบสถ และอาคาร 2 ชั้น ให้ประชาชนทั่วไปเข้ามากราบไหว้พระได้ ส่วนอีกด้านนึงจะเป็นเขตสงฆ์ แวะมาทำบุญและเลี้ยงอาหารสามเณรได้นะคะ ที่นี่มีสามเณร ประมาณ 80 รูป และเด็กชาวเขาอีก 25 คน ที่ทางวัดดูแล
